Back Pain

There are many causes or reasons for this common debilitating condition – often not correctly diagnosed. These include overuse, strain / injury, arthritis, osteoporosis and deterioration due to aging. Other factors include infection, misalignment /poor sleeping positions, and over-acidity.
“Corticosteroids, despite being “wonder drugs,” cause devastating long-term damage, including 5% to 15% yearly bone loss, 70% weight gain rates, and dramatic increases in heart attacks (226%), heart failure (272%), and strokes (73%)” – Dr. Joseph Mercola often

Causes of back pain
Infection
Study of 61 immunocompetent patients found that those with an anaerobic infected disc are significantly more likely to develop Modic change (MC) (bone oedema) in the adjacent vertebrae after the disc herniation, than those patients in which no bacteria were found or those in which aerobic bacteria were found.
Several studies on nuclear tissue from herniated discs have demonstrated the presence of low virulent anaerobic microorganisms, predominantly Propionibacterium acnes, in 7-53 % of patients. At the time of a herniation these low virulent anaerobic bacteria may enter the disc and give rise to an insidious infection. Local inflammation in the adjacent bone may be a secondary effect due to cytokines from immune system reaction and propionic acid production of bacteria.
Weak tendons / ligaments
These tough, fibrous bands connect bone-to-bone and bone-to-muscle to stabilize the skeletal system and keep it aligned. Where the ligaments attach to bones is rich in nerve-endings, making misalignments particularly painful. Lack of collagen causes ligaments and tendons to become weak and cause misalignment.
How to treat back pain
THe usual course is to try various pain meds, stepping up to steroid injections, followed by surgery.
Sleeping positions to prevent back pain
- Stomach sleeping. Avoid – causes alignment issues.
- Side sleepers. Keep both your knees bent and together – don’t draw only one leg up.
- Arm under pillow. Keep fully extended, not bent.
- Back sleepers. Keep your arms at your sides or on your stomach or chest, not over your head.

Vitamin C therapy to make collagen

As collagen is produced, it tightens ligaments, making them stronger and more stable. This will help with correct spinal alignment.
