Therapeutic, home-made smoothies made with fresh foods
Designed to heal, energize cells, build connective tissue, normalize thyroid function and boost immune system against assault. Ingredients are specifically chosen to include nutrients the body cannot make and are typically missing from most daily diets and wreaking havoc with our health:
Magnesium – required for cellular energy production metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids, formation of bones and teeth, normalizing muscle and nerve function, improving INSULIN sensitivity, reduces blood pressure and much more. Magnesium levels are high in pumpkin and flax seeds, molasses, raw almonds, pine nuts and brazil nuts
Iodine – a “no-brainer” for thyroid function and to prevent reproductive organ cancers. Reverses fibrocystic breasts, shrinks ovarian and thyroid cysts, natural antimicrobial.
Vitamin C – This all-important vitamin cannot be stored so must be consumed anew each day for its antioxidant activity in watery areas of the body, for building collagen in all connective tissue in arteries, bones, joints, skin . . ., as well as its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and immune system boosting abilities. The fruit used in the recipe are chosen for their high-C-content.
Omega-3 fatty acids – provides typically deficient, high-energy, healing omega-3 (as well as some omega-6) essential fats, lignans and fiber. These ingredients effectively fight against most of the major and minor health problems of our time including CVD, cancer, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, depression, anxiety, osteoporosis, M.S., and issues of the GI tract — the list goes on! Omega-3 fats are here obtained from flaxseed (also provides lignans to normalize estrogen) and also from fresh, quality flaxseed oil (necessary if you need to build up low starting omega-3 levels or as part of a specific health therapy). For the "O3 Fix" Smoothie and "Collagen Fix" Shake you will need:
- A powerful blender
- Measuring items: A 2-Cup pyrex container, 2 Tbsp, 1 Tbsp and 1 tsp. 1/3 tsp. measures
- Ice and filtered water
- Whey protein powder – COLD-PROCESSED (can be low-heat pasteurized) from RAW, ORGANIC (at least Non-GMO) GRASS-fed cows’ milk. Unsweetened, and NOT protein ISOLATES (missing nutrients) or acid-processed. Recommended without affiliation: “Raw Grass Fed Whey”, sold on Amazon. Current link (it’s not cheap). Can substitute cottage cheese or yogurt (see recipe for details)
- Flaxseeds (whole, organic). Brown or golden (mildest taste). Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, lignans, fiber.
- High-C content fruit. Guava, orange, kiwi and strawberries are at the top of the list. These fruits are chosen for their superlatively high C content (but also use others to provide variety) – the skins provide antioxidant phytonutrients but should be thoroughly washed.
- Bananas or organic raw honey (sweeteners)
- Dry-roasted or presoaked pumpkin seeds (magnesium and zinc, raw seeds contain the antinutrient phytic acid)
- Lugol’s iodine. For thyroid health
- Powdered lysine. E.g. Amazon
- Powdered vitamin C (ascorbic acid) E.g. Amazon
- Pure vanilla essence (optional)
- Organic whole milk (optional)
- Organic spinach leaves (magnesium + other nutrients)
- Flax oil. ORGANIC, FRESH, LOW-HEAT EXPELLER-PRESSED (kept refrigerated or frozen, in opaque bottle). NOT HIGH LIGNAN (don’t pay oil prices for lignans, cheaper from seeds). Use within 1 month of opening. Keeps up to 12 months if no air in bottle. Flora® (removes oxygen from top of bottle) and Spectrum® are good brands.
"O3 Fix" Fruit Smoothie --- Drink once / day
Provides maintenance dose of essential omega-3 fatty acids in 2½ Tbsp. flaxseed and 1 – 2 Tbsp. fresh flax OIL in a delicious fruit smoothie
You should include flax OIL in your smoothie in the following situations:
- You are correcting a starting omega-3 deficiency for a few months
- As therapy for a known health problem. Serious health problems may require 3-6 Tbsp. flax oil / day as in the Budwig Protocol.
Note that this high O3-dose protocol is not compatible with high dose vitamin C therapies, such as the Collagen Fix shake or Rath-Pauling Therapy - To ensure you are getting enough omega-3 to maintain health (1-2 Tbsp. / person)
Otherwise, you can choose to maintain health with just the Omega-3 (plus lignans, fiber and mucilage) in the flaxSEED.
“O3-Fix” Fruit Smoothie Recipe
Alternative recipes for consuming daily O3 maintenance dose:

"Collagen Fix" Shake--- Drink TWICE / day
Contains Rath-Pauling therapy ingredients (at maintenace level) vitamin C, Lysine and Proline for building collagen plus Iodine
This daily maintenance level recipe is for 2 people. Halve the amounts for 1 person

Lysine has a taste which some may find unpleasant, to turn this around, the following “fruit shake” is delightful – honest! 🙂
At least 2 hours away from having the “O3 Fix” Smoothie (prevents interference with omega-3 therapy) – drink the preventative maintenance dose of the Rath-Pauling therapy (for building collagen) in this smoothie – TWICE / day (separated – e.g. morning and evening):
In a container blender – add, blend:
- A little fresh or frozen soft fruit (strawberries, raspberries, mango, blueberries, etc.)
- ½ banana
- 2 cups water and ice
- 1 ¾ tsp. Lysine powder E.g. Amazon
- ⅔ tsp vitamin C powder E.g. Amazon
- ⅓ C organic whole milk or 3 Tbsp organic whey protein
- 1 Tbsp. organic, raw honey (optional)
- ½ tsp. pure vanilla essence (optional – anti-inflammatory)
Add to drink ONLY ONCE / day:
- 2 drops 2% Lugol’s iodine (provides maintenance dose of ~3 mg iodine + iodide / person. Lugols’ page explains how to start with a higher dose to deal with a likely deficiency)
Serve in two large 16oz. glasses and immediately enjoy☺
Note: it’s easy to forget taking the second C and Lysine drink so you will need to make yourself some kind of reminder

These supplements are part of the therapy and are not optional – all the components are interactively supportive.
- 1-500 mg Proline capsule – part of Rath-Pauling therapy for building collagen. E.g. Amazon
If doing the Rath-Pauling therapy at therapeutic doses, you will need to have additional C / Lysine drinks and proline according to chosen therapy dosage amounts.
- 1-1000mg fish oil capsule (or eat oily fish at least 2 times / week. Wild salmon oil is a good choice (not chemically processed).
- 400 mg magnesium (as chelated magnesium supplement E.g. Swanson Ultra Albion Magnesium Glycinate, or prefer transdermal magnesium chloride (less convenient but fast, effective, cheap and bypasses GI tract). (Highly functional mineral, also for omega-3 conversion enzymes)
- A small bar of chocolate – magnesium (E.g. 4.25 oz Milk Chocolate bar w/ almonds provides 102mg magnesium).
- Zinc – 8 mg (W) or 11 mg (M). Prefer zinc citrate, chelate, acetate, mono-methionine or gluconate (for omega-3 conversion enzymes)
- Selenium – 200 mcg seleno-methionine or consume 4-6 brazil nuts
- Protects O3 fatty acids in cell membranes from oxidation
- Vitamin A – supplement or include A-rich foods
- Vitamin B-complex – prefer sublingual form (for omega-3 conversion enzymes)
- Daily sunbath for vitamin D
- Vitamin E – supplement 400 IU mixed gamma-tocopherol.
- Vitamin K – K1 in spinach, K2 in fermented foods (natto, sauerkraut), aged cheese – K2 puts calcium where it belongs in bones and teeth, not in soft tissue, such as your arteries. Can supplement K2.

Heads-up!
This is a deceptively powerful therapy that will go to work on you right from the start. Be prepared for some detox symptoms, called the Herxheimer Reaction. These can be experienced as feeling tired, a slight fever, headache, diarrhea, pain in joints, muscles bones, nausea, rashes and more. May last several days or even weeks, but stay with it and you’ll be a new person!
